BlackBerry PlayBook or Apple iPad?

Postby THCAndy » 17 May 2011, 20:44

Just the other day I saw a commercial for the new BlackBerry PlayBook. As soon as I saw it, I knew it would be competition for the iPad. I know there has been numerous tablets released, but none that compare to the iPad.

www.blackberry.com/playbook
Now I'm on my netbook, so viewing the BlackBerry PlayBook page is kind of a hassle right now, but from what I understand, here are the features:
- 1GB of RAM
- Front and Rear 1080p cameras
- 1Ghz Dual Core Processor
- b/g/n wifi
- 7.6 in wide 5.1 tall 0.4 wide
- .9lbs (425g)
- 1024 x 600 res
- Blackberry tablet OS with symmetric multiprocessing
- Full Adobe Flash 10.1

Need I say more?

http://www.apple.com/ipad/specs/
Here's the specs for the iPad

Height: 9.50 inches (241.2 mm)
Width: 7.31 inches (185.7 mm)
Depth: 0.34 inch (8.8 mm)
Weight: 1.33 pounds (601 g)
Wi-Fi (802.11a/b/g/n)
9.7-inch (diagonal) LED-backlit glossy widescreen Multi-Touch display with IPS technology
1024-by-768-pixel resolution at 132 pixels per inch (ppi)
Fingerprint-resistant oleophobic coating
1GHz dual-core Apple A5

So, which do YOU think is better?
Which would YOU buy?

A good Android Tablet could easily beat both of those.
I would say it's a tie, both have their pros and cons.

An Android tablet would be awesome, and I'm sure they'll have one soon enough.

Never thought of that.
The only reason anyone might get the PlayBook instead of the iPad would probably be because of it's flash capabilities. PlayBooks are really expensive.

Yeah an Android Tablet would be better ... but rather keep saving for my next build (Intel i7, SSDs, Gigabyte GA-X58A-UD3R Intel X58, ATI Radeon 6950 ) :PP

They are very limited though. And they're expensive. There are plenty of Android tablets out now that are better than an iPad :-)

I gotta rub it in: my HTC Inspire 4G had a large softwar update about a week or so ago. A bunch of things have been improved! Scrolling through apps is easier, a few things were updated to look a little better, and I think the phone is faster too :D

My Samsung Captivate (Android phone) also had a big update just recently too! It was probably about a month ago :D

AT&T sent me a message that my phone needed to be upgraded. They sent me the link.
The website that I was linked to showed me directions on how to update it.

Mine just says in the notification bar "System Update Available" and all I have to do is hit download...thenwhen it's done, it automatically installs it for me :)
